The IV Swiss Forum Head and Neck Diagnostics 2015 has been conceived as  a joint continuing medical education course of the Swiss Society of Radiology (SGR) and the Swiss Society of Neuroradiology (SGNR). This fourth joint symposium of the SGR and SGNR focuses in the imaging of craniofacial trauma and the new released AO Classification of craniofacial fractures.

The scientific programme was planned and organized by Prof. Dr. C. Buitrago Téllez from the Forum Head and Neck Diagnostics of the Swiss Society of Radiology (SGR) and Working Group Head and Neck Radiology of the Swiss Society of Neuroradiology (SGNR) in cooperation with Prof. Dr. K. Lövblad , member of the direction staff of the Swiss Society of Neuroradiology.

The Symposium provides structured overviews in the fields of systematic anatomy of the craniofacial region relevant to trauma and an update on imaging modalities for accurate diagnosis of craniofacial fractures.

Furthermore, the Symposium presents for the first time the newly developed AO classification for craniofacial fractures to the radiological, neuroradiological, ENT, maxillofacial and neurosurgical community with presentations made by expert members involved in the  validation and  development of this AO classification. The AO CMF group supports this continuing medical activity organized by the SGR and SGNR. This is extremely important to introduce this classification system in clinical practice, which has been designed to improve standardization and communication of all disciplines involved in craniofacial trauma, such as surgeons and radiologists.

The Swiss Forum Head and Neck Diagnostics 2015  represents a unique opportunity to meet some of the most experienced colleagues from different fields working clinically  in the multidisciplinary area of craniofacial trauma, such as Neuroradiology/Radiology (Prof. Dr. L. Remonda, Aarau, Prof. Dr. K. Loevblad, Geneva, Prof. Dr. J. Gralla, Bern, Prof. Dr. C. Stippich, Basel, Prof. Dr. C. Buitrago Téllez, Zofingen,
Dr. T. Jung, Zurich, Prof. Dr. T. Roeren, Aarau, Prof. Dr. M. Becker and Frau Dr. A. Ailianou, Geneva), Neurosurgery ( Prof. Dr. C. Matula, Vienna, Prof. Dr. J. Fandino, Aarau) and Craniomaxillofacial Surgery (Prof. Dr. J. Hirsch, Uppsala, Sweden; Prof. Dr. A. Neff, Giessen/Marburg, Prof. Dr.Dr. C.P. Cornelius, Munich, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. h.c. H.F. Zeilhofer, Basel/Aarau; Prof. Dr. Dr. C. Kunz, Basel/Aarau, PD Dr.Dr. C. Leiggener, Basel/Aarau and Prof. Dr. J. Prein, Basel from the AO education an AO Alliance Foundation) and PD Dr. Laurent Audige,Zurich from the AO Clinical Investigation and Documentation of the AO Foundation and Research and Development Department of the Schulthess Clinic..

The course addresses postgraduate residents in the fields of radiology , but also in maxillofacial surgery, ENT and neurosurgery, radiologists and neuroradiologists with clinical practice and interest to update basic and more specific knowledge in this complex area.

The craniofacial trauma course, i.e. the Swiss Forum Head and Neck Diagnostics 2015 has been certified with 7 CME points category I by the Swiss Society of Radiology (SGR) and with 5,5 CME points category I of Swiss Society of ENT.

The city of Zofingen, Canton Aargau, is in the heart of Switzerland, with an optimal railway connection from Basel, Zurich, Bern or the rest of  Switzerland. It is also easily accessible by the car because of the good access to the highway. The Zofingen City Major, H.R. Hottiger will introduce the Swiss Forum and offers in the name of the City a welfare Apero at the end of the Symposium.
The Spital Zofingen AG is also supporting  this course. Dr. Ch. Reize, CEO will welcome the participants in the name of the hospital direction.

We thank Bracco AG and Guerbet AG for the support of our project and making possible such a multidisciplinary event.

We also thank Verena Koch and Silvan Würmli for the update of our website and Paul Geiser from FOTO-PUR for the great images of Zofingen.

According to organizational reasons there will be a limited number of participants, so that we encourage the early registration via e-mail (Michela.berguglia@bracco.com). Please see more details under registration.
